Emerging
Renewables Buy-Down Program |
The California Energy Commission
is offering cash rebates on eligible renewable energy electric-generating systems.
You can get a rebate of up to $3,000 per kilowatt, or 50 percent off your system purchase
price (whichever is less), making it more affordable to generate your own electricity
using renewable energy.
This program is called the Emerging Renewables Buy-Down Program. |
How do you get your rebate? |
| 1 |
Order or Download a
Guidebook from the California Energy Commission (see below for more details). The
Guidebook will give you more information about the buy-down program, tell you how to apply
for your rebate and provide the forms you will need. |
| 2 |
Select an eligible system to purchase. You or your retailer can apply
to the Energy Commission to reserve a rebate. |
| 3 |
The Energy Commission will review
your application for eligibility and send you a Reservation Confirmation and Claim Form,
along with your rebate dollar amount. Your system must be installed within 9 months of the
confirmation date for systems that are 10 kilowatts or less, and within 18 months for
larger systems. |
| 4 |
Once your system has been
permitted, completely installed, and is operational, you or your retailer can submit the
Claim Form to the Energy Commission for payment. |
|
|
| DOWNLOAD the guidebook and
application forms from the Energy Commission's Web site at: www.energy.ca.gov/renewables/documents FAXED copies of the program forms, and lists of eligible
equipment and participating retailers, are available by calling the California Energy
Commission Facts Line at 916-653-6830.

What are the benefits of Emerging
Renewable Energy Technologies? Reliability
Generate your own electricity using renewable resources. If you use a PV or wind system,
your electric utility can "store" your electricity, and supply it when your
system is not generating.
Security
Provide a secure back-up source of electricity for your home or business, while making use
of our indigenous energy resources.
Environmentally Friendly
Use clean, replenishable resources that do not pollute or contribute to global climate
change.
Sustainability
Help ensure our energy future by tapping into an "infinite" power supply.
|
 |
What
generating systems are eligible? |
- Photovoltaics (PV) -- solar cells that convert sunlight directly to electricity.
- Small Wind Turbines -- wind turbines with an output of 10 kilowatts or less.
- Fuel Cells -- devices that use a chemical process to convert renewable fuels into
electricity.
- Solar Thermal Systems -- systems that use solar heat to generate electricity.
